NEW Large African Porcupine Quills $4.00/ea.
These are really flippin' cool. I have been wanting to use some of these in various projects I have planned and came across a huge lot! Each quill measures at least 6" (a few are as long as 8"). I will pick the best one(s) for you. First come, first served. (Porcupine quills are sharp -- be careful!)

NEW Small Porcupine Quills $2.00 for 10+
I found these the day after I purchased the large African Porcupine Quills from a totally different place, ironically. These measure 1 to 3 inches on average, a few a big longer. Because these are small, you'll find a porcupine fur every now and then. They WERE cleaned by the taxidermist I obtained them from though so it's clean fur. You will get at least 10 for the price. How fun it would be to create a little epoxy clay dude with quills, or use to decorate your altered books or jewelry. (Porcupine quills are sharp -- be careful! ALSO, if you are purchasing these alone, much of your shipping charges will be refunded as these are light and small.)

Wooden Coffin $16.00
These sturdy wooden coffins are fabulous! Use them for a shrine or assemblage project or to house a coffin-shaped altered book. It measures Just over 9 1/2" tall by 4 1/2" wide and is 2 1/2" deep and has two hinges on the left and a nail-like insert closure on the right inside seam (this can be kept or removed). Your coffin will arrive with a secret little baggy of goodies so let me know what you like when you purchase.

Vintage Blue Glass Poison Vial $6.95
I happened upon a half dozen of these little beauties and was told that they were vintage poison vials. They measure almost 3" and haven't any tops (though small corks fit perfectly into them). I don't think they are poison vials though. I think they are vintage perfume bottles -- but I'm no expert. Either way, they are super cool.

Plastic Petri Dishes $2.00/ea.
These handy little petri dishes measure just under 4" in diameter and about a half inch deep and have lose fitting lids. Use them for creepy art pieces, fill with red wax for blood, make an enormous kaleidoscope... or actually grow a culture. These were perfectly sterile before I opened the package but are still just as cool. I'm going to make a weird science specimen assemblage with mine!

Miniature Corked Glass Bottles Small: $1.00 Medium: $1.50 Tall: $2.00
Oh how I love these bottles! I use them most often as miniature apothecary bottles, putting such things in them as bugs or faux spooky things. Or when I'm feeling more tame, I shove in some watchmaker parts and gears, and other bits. Top with wax for a fun effect. Great for jewelry, creepy little assemblages and holding itty-bitty things.
They're sized as follows:
Small 1.25" tall, Medium 1.5" tall, Tall
2.75" tall, sans corks.

Winged Insect Specimen $27.00
I am in love with this bug but have several. This was purchased (like the beetle below) from a museum exhibit. The specimen says on the back "Hypemoptera sp. Mt. Argopuro, East Java Indonesia. July 2003." All of the specimens purchased are guaranteed to have not been murdered or anything brutal like that, but rather died peaceful or otherwise natural deaths. This little guy would look utterly amazing in a shadow box or shrine. Measures approximately 2.5" wide and 2" tall.

Beaver.. or something Skull $33.00
This guy is really quite sweet. I purchased him for a shadow box but he ended up being too big-headed to fit. I keep spying him and wanting to do something with him but I literally have 9 other projects on my plate so for now, if even temporarily, this site is where he'll have to dwell. He (or she?) measures aprox. 2.5" x 4" x 2".

Dang it! I just purchased a fantastic vintage chest with drawers to put all of the Altered Bits goodies in that are for sale on the site, and I dropped this little dude while transporting him, breaking off his front teeth in the process. I will do him justice and make him into something fantastic. But I'm sad about it. As such, he's no longer for sale. Sorry! |

Raccoon Penis Bone $13.00
I didn't even know that raccoon penises had bones before I found these. I purchased several and only have one left. This measures 4" in length and could be used as a very cool focal (or conversation) piece in any art medium or project.

Deceased Green Beetle/Bug $18.00
This bug is super cool! The only problem is that he is perfectly preserved and wrapped so I had to photograph him in his packaging which makes you lose the amazing detail of his wings, head and body. He would be an amazing addition to a deceased green beetle/bug project. :)

Anatomical and Curious Image Bundle with Test Tube $18.00
What anatomical project is complete without a test tube? Not ours! In this bundle you will receive four collage sheets that are a bit more anatomically explicit than the ones on our main collage sheet page (they didn't fit too well with the crowns and wings so I moved them): old time anatomical illustrations, great anatomical drawings by the masters, miscellaneous curiosities, and a sheet of curious historic medical photographs. The plastic medical lab test tube comes with black rubber stopper. If you like the mildly creepy or deranged, you'll love this bundle. Unlike our other collage sheets, the black and white sheets are printed on
67 lb. acid free ivory card stock with semi-smooth finish for a slightly aged look (feel free to request white paper if you want brighter images) -- the two colored sheets are are printed on our bright white paper used for all other collage sheets for vibrancy.
