Porcupine Girl $95
Measuring 5 1/2" x 10" tall (including african porcupine quills) x 2" deep, this little Porcupine Girl is as dangerous as she is sweet (not really -- the small quills don't stick out farther than the edges of the box). She was featured in the Altered Bits Zine's first print issue and now she can be yours. Her head is made from an 1860s victorian doll and the quills are kindly obtained. Two piece set: currently untitled but calling "Heart Couple" for now $105
This ghost couple, though accidentally killed on their wedding night, are so very in love that they don't care as they are still together in the afterlife.
Anatomical hearts reside in handmade boxes atop these pieces. Vintages Watch parts, ribs from various species (opossum and in the 1800s watchmaker's vial, mouse), and other curious items adorn each of these two canvases.
These pieces measure 5" x 5", not including the embellishment on top. They are on 2" deep staple-free canvases. Click the photos or detail links below to see more.

The Empress $220
The Empress is the third card in the
Major Arcana in traditional Tarot decks.
She is mother, a creator and nurturer. In many decks she can be shown as pregnant, so in this piece you will very faintly see a fetus behind the title "Empress III" in the rusted frame. She can represent the creation of life, romance, art or business. The Empress can represent the germination of an idea before it is ready to be fully born. She is often associated with Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love, thus the lovely red flowers.
In her beneficent aspect, she is a giver and a nurturer, as shown by her outstretched hand.

Waiting at Sea Mixed Media Painting $55
This 6" x 6" acrylic on canvas is more than just a
semi-abstract painting
-- it's a story. Starting when I was roughly 3.5 years old, I started having a recurring dream of standing on a beach, looking out to a stormy sea, waiting for... who? what? I have no idea. I just recall having this dream ALL of the time. It involved love, but being only 3.5 years of age, I could not actually discern the meaning behind this dream. It reoccurred until I was about 8 or 9 years old, and all I recall is waiting for a ship, seeing a lighthouse to my right and sometimes, a flower growing from the sand. Okay, so incorporated my "modern day" red locks (I was a white-blonde little girl) and my stripey socks, but the rest is childhood-dream-accurate indeed.

Frida With Flowers In Her Hair $65
Lovely Miss Frida stands thoughtfully against the wall of an old building, flowers in hair and cheeks all rosy from the sun. This acrylic on mat board measures 8x8". I still keep wondering if she should have an earring. She is very textural and I love the bumpy feel of the shoulder of her dress.

Girl in a Polka-Dot Dress $35
Since the very first time I saw this image, I've kind of had a mildly mad crush on this girl. Not in a weird way -- I'm quite happily married, but I do love her. Her sweet face and dainty little hands are sweet as call be and I really do like using her image in art. She is the first in a series of dress girls (the image cuts off just under her hands). We all have to feel a little girly every now and then, don't we? She is 4"x5" on mat board. Acrylic and collage. Signed on back.

Mountain Girl $35
I'm a mountain girl at heart. This whole city living thing still throws me off after all these years. I grew up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and my heart still resides there. I want to live right here in this painting (maybe with the Garden House as my home on this land -- see below -- with the view of the mountains). She is 4"x5" on mat board. Acrylic and collage. Mabel's Garden $35
It has just occurred to me that I am quite ADD (actually, I've known that awhile) and for some reason I added to this collage after I took the photograph and failed to re-shoot it. There are now dark gray polka-dots (teeny tiny ones) in the middle of the bordering teal and brown dots, and the little white edge of Miss Mabel's dress is now gray as well. If you would like a new, updated photo, please do let me know. Otherwise I will soon add it the moment I'm not distracted and alter this description. She is 4"x5" on mat board. Acrylic and collage. Charlotte's Flower: Charlotte Mixed Media Textile Collage $50
Can you tell I'm in huge anticipation of summer? It's been raining, raining, raining here for eons! That's a mini-fib -- we've actually had three days of at least partial sun since Halloween (and now it's now mid-June). Anyway, this wee Charlotte piece measures 3" x 10.5"
(including hanger and recycled sari silk bottom fringe). Inside the little window is a bed of pretty vintage red velvet and lined with 1930s wallpaper. The lace pieces date also around 1930s (to 40s) and all of the gorgeous recycled sari silk ribbon (bottom bits and flower) are from Mudhound Studio's Etsy Shop (I'm an addict!!).
The bead in the center of the flower is also vintage -- from the early 40s... obviously the Charlotte is much older, but I couldn't find any 1880s lace or silk ribbon. ;)

Charlotte's Song #11: Charlotte Mixed Media Textile Collage $65
This is the 11th pieces in a prospective 100 piece series. This is a one of a kind piece measuring roughly 4" wide by 9.5" tall (including silk hanger and ruffle at the bottom). She is created from a late 1800s Frozen Charlotte doll, vintage and antique lace, fabrics and trims, many of which have been hand dyed or coffee stained, turquoise stones, and found objects that I've rusted. It is both hand and machine sewn.

Charlotte's Song #9: Frozen Charlotte Mixed Media Textile Collage $60
This one of a kind piece measures roughly 6.5" wide by 11" tall (including silk hanger and lace at the bottom). She is the 9th piece in a series, and is created from an altered late 1800s Frozen Charlotte doll, vintage and antique lace, fabrics and trims (many of which have been hand dyed or coffee stained), and several found objects that I've rusted, crackled or aged. It is both hand and machine sewn. Charlotte #9 has a fantastic crackle finish and adorns a heart on her sweet little chest.

Two Hearts: Anatomical"Two Story Book" $68
This is one of the first of my "two story books" :: two handmade books ontop of one another. The top book has black pages, perfect for writing in with white gel pen, and measures 2"x3" and is topped with an anatomical heart covered with mica sheet window. Frida Kahlo Blank Journal/Sketchbook $45
This was originally made as a gift to myself but after much hemming and hawing, I've decided to list it up for sale thanks to Portland's horrible economy. This is a removable cover on a hardback blank journal measuring 6"x9", with acid free/archival quality paper. The Frida image is printed directly onto muslin -- not an image transfer. She is adorned with many vintage lace pieces, textiles, beads and buttons. At the bottom, a bird milagro I've had for about ten years, waiting for "the perfect use" for it. Frida is definitely it! On the back is a pocket in a deep red hue (should shoot that for you too!).

Anatomical Heart Blank Art Journal $96
Oh how Alicia this wee art journal is! It's adorned with a heart that I digitally altered and enhanced, a mica sheet, rusty metal embellishments, lace bits (1940s and late 1800s bits), salvaged hand-dyed fabrics, yummy crackle (yes, I love the crackle!!) and a classic Alicia-style tie closure and back pocket. The pages are made of 140lb cold pressed water colour paper and has 40 pages -- perfect for painting, collaging, inking and loving. The book measures 3.75" by 5" so it's an ideal little travel sized journal to pack around with you. The binding was initially intended to be covered but I thought it looked too rustic and nice to hide.

Alice in Wonderland Blank Journal/Sketchbook $48
This blank spiral-bound sketch journal measures approximately 5" x 7" and is adorned with a transfer image of my original Alice in Wonderland piece entitled "Drink Me" and many coffee stained fabrics, laces and trims. Under the skirt, as naughty as that may sound, is a little pocket to keep your secret notes in (I promise I won't tell). The back cover contains an additional pocket.

"The Tattered Little China Doll" Textile Cuff $62
While making this, I couldn't help but think of an old china doll I had as a little girl. Her face was cracked, her dress tattered and worn in black, red and cream.
This cuff measures almost 8" x 2.5" and fits up to a 7" wrist (at the thickest part). It's made from vintage and new salvaged textiles, antique beads and old asian coin charms with a glass drop and bells.

"The Grunge Band" Textile Wrist Cuff Bracelet $62
I have no idea why I name some things, but I kept getting old Mud Honey and Nirvana songs stuck in my head while making this, so, "The Grunge Band" felt only natural.
This wrist cuff 7.5" x 3" at its widest point and is made from recycled fabrics, both vintage and new, and recycled sari silk ribbon. It's adorned with vintage and antique buttons, jewelry parts and metal bits, a piece of an old antique earring and a rusty metal drop that I have no idea about, other than it looks really cool.

"Grandma Was a Cancer" Crab Claw Salvaged Textile Wrist Cuff $57
Neither of my grandmas were Cancer's really. One was an Aries and the other... oh, also an Aries. In fact, today is her 91st birthday so I must now ring her. But that aside, I kept thinking of one of them wearing this
dainty little cuff (made from mostly vintage and antique lace with some recycled sari silk, vintage brass beads and old red glass beads and a crab claw) to a dance or ball. How pretty it would look!
This measures 7.5" x 2" at its thickest point, and will fit up to a 6.75" wrist. There is a brass hook closure on the back and a hidden reenforcement snap "just in case" so you don't lose it.

Elizabeth Bathory's Secret, Salvaged Textile Cuff Bracelet $89
While creating this cuff bracelet, a tiny voice sounded in my head "Elizabeth Bathory’s Secret..." I was perplexed by this curious voice but thought little of it as these sorts of things are rather regular occurrences with me. But, after a bit, I could’t get the thought of this lady out of my head. I did a bit of research and found this photo of her as displayed
via the second link below. Look how the cuff and her dress resemble one another! I was quite pleased, and of course a bit shocked as I had never seen a photo of her before then.

Deep Purple Cuff Bracelet $38
This deep purple and black linen cuff bracelets will comfortably fit a 6.75" wrist, or less. It is about 2.5" wide and has on it an aged vintage metal cut-out with leaves, vintage copper beads, an amethyst bead, hand-spun multi-hued wool fiber, recycled Sari silk ribbon and a large vintage button. Two small snaps serve as a secure closure.
It was purchased from me, but the gal measured the smaller part of her wrist instead of the thicker part and as a result it was too small. So, if you saw this before, now's your chance to snatch it up. I've reduced the price since it was sent back and forth across the country.
