Our next issue will have TWO themes:
Notorious and Letters and Symbols
(i previously had a typo and said "numbers and symbols" -- sorry about that!)

1. widely and unfavorably known: a notorious gambler.
2. publicly or generally known, as for a particular trait: a newspaper that is notorious for its sensationalism.

and you know what numbers and symbols are so i'll just leave it at that.

This issue will be in print, maybe instead of online, and as a result you will need to sign an agreement in order to be published. I will post this soon.

Submission is currently open (date posted soon)
Publish date is approximately one month following submission deadline for print version(s). Two weeks for online.

Send submissions to hi@alteredbits.com with subject "Notorious" or "Letters and Symbols". Limit THREE entries per person per theme please.

Issue One: Anatomically Altered Online Art Zine
Packed full of anatomical related pieces, this mixed media art zine features the amazing creations of seven female artists' collages, paintings, illustrations and assemblages.

Submission Information (you don't have to be an Altered Bits customer):

Please include all of the following when submitting your art for consideration:

• High resolution photo(s), at least 300dpi* with your name and the title of your piece in the file name (you can submit, PNGs, JPGs or TIFs). Please DO NOT send small images "just to see if I'm interested" as it takes time to get back to you and explain what I need you to send -- no offense. I'm just busy. :)
• A brief one to two paragraph bio in a DOC, ODT, RTF or TXT
  file with your name as the file name (such as your-name.txt).
• Information on your piece, if desired (inspiration, technique, etc.).
• Any links you would like to include, such as web site, blog,
  Etsy or Artfire shop, etc. in your bio file.
• Your location.
• If your piece will be for sale when the zine is published -- this will hopefully get you additional exposure.

* Please feel free to contact me if you need help with this. Basically, your image should be no smaller than 5x7, for those of you who think in inches, at very smallest, at 300dpi.

Zine Advertising

In the next couple of issues I will be selling super cheap ad space in the zine as a means to off-set the price a bit and get people additional exposure. If you are interested, please contact me. I will post rates and sizes soon, but it will be low. There will be a price-outline for artists, and a seperate price-outline for shops, resellers, etc..

Donations

The Altered Bits zine is growing exponentially and the hours required to publish it are getting a bit more than one person can handle without cutting into day-job-time. As such, I am accepting donations to keep this zine free of submission fees, and free to download, and hopefully help to add to the near-future print version fund! If you've enjoyed the zine, please consider donating a buck or a few.
