![]() Once upon a time in the mildly rainy Northwest, a web designer girl/mixed media artist realized that her studio was overflowing with an abundance of found objects and altered art supplies so great that she would never in 943 years be able to use it all herself. Rather than coveting it, she decided to share some of her treasures with the rest of the world and so was born Altered Bits. Someday, perhaps Altered Bits will morph into a real storefront in Portland with heaps of goodies and workshops, but for now it's just a pretty little place to peek at online (I say this because someone popped over to my house a couple of weeks ago to shop, and I felt a tad on the awkward side).
About "The Girl" A young Miss Alicia Caudle was graciously blessed with an Etch-a-Sketch™ from her parents which fueled her creativity at an eerily early age. From there, she quickly graduated to paper, glue and various doll parts to create strange little collages and assemblages that her mother typically scoffed at (she did not buy Barbies to have them be immediately dissected, for example). In her latter teen years, Alicia taught herself the art of web design and shortly thereafter founded Digit 13, a Portland-based web design collective where she still professionally resides. Her designs have been featured in online and print publications garnering international recognition in the web design industry, but that's neither here not here...
